Asmitha Raj Advances to Nationals After Best in Science Fair Win

We are excited to celebrate an incredible achievement by Roland Michener Secondary School student 𝐀𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐚 𝐑𝐚𝐣, who competed at the Peace Country Regional Science Fair in Peace River on March 25.

Asmitha earned gold in the senior division for Biotechnology, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, along with the Excellence Award in the same category. She was also named Best in Fair, an exceptional honour that secures her a spot at the Canada Wide Science Fair this May.

Her project, Investigating the Combined Effects of Hydrogel Scaffolds and Ultrasound Stimulation on Nutrient Transport in Avascular Cartilage Models, explores innovative approaches to improving nutrient delivery in cartilage, demonstrating both scientific depth and real-world relevance.

This is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to Asmitha’s dedication, curiosity, and advanced research skills. We wish her the very best as she represents our region at the Edmonton EXPO Centre this May.
