Regular Board Meeting Summary - April 2021The High Prairie School Division Board of Trustees met via Zoom on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, for their regularly scheduled meeting. The meeting began by approving the agenda and then moved into the agenda items.

The Trustees discussed the proposed K-6 curriculum and the option for school staff to pilot the proposed curriculum. Board members brought forward concerns raised by staff and community members. Administration highlighted areas of note and areas that have raised concerns and questions. The Board noted they are meeting with the local MLAs to discuss this issue further, including the options available for school authorities and staff to provide feedback, regardless of whether they pilot the proposed curriculum. The deadline for school authorities to indicate they are piloting the proposed curriculum is May 7.

The Board then received a delegation from Director of Transportation Harry Davis. Mr. Davis discussed the ongoing work the department has been undertaking in partnership with the Division's Safety Officer to address school bus fly-bys. 

The meeting went into closed for a presentation from Divisional Psychologist Colin Collett on the annual student survey results.

The meeting came out of camera and continued discussing agenda items. The Board approved the 2021-22 operational calendar and the three-year capital plan. 

The Board discussed the 2021-22 priorities, goals, and outcomes. The Board will review the proposed priorities, goals, and outcomes at a special meeting next week.

Trustees approved the Finance report, and then the meeting moved into closed for the remainder of the agenda items.
