Regular Board Meeting Summary December 2020The HPSD Board of Trustees met via Zoom for their regularly scheduled board meeting on Wednesday, December 16. The meeting began with the approval of the consent agenda and additions to the agenda.

Trustees reviewed an email from the Canadian Charter of Learners' Rights.

The Board approved the 2020 retiree gift options for our retirees. In the past, retirees were presented with an engraved apple sculpture that has now been discontinued. The Employee Recognition Committee presented four options for retirees to choose from for their retirement gift from the Board of Trustees. 

The Board set the 2021 Long Service Awards ceremony for Friday, May 28, 2021. The in-person ceremony is contingent on gathering restrictions being lessened in the future.

Indigenous Education Lead Diane Bellerose gave a presentation to the Board on the work being done by the Indigenous Education Coaching Team. 

Trustees then received a presentation from Supervisor of Curriculum Julia Drefs on curriculum and assessment and on teaching during COVID-19.

The Board of Trustees amended Board Policy 7 - Board Operations to allow for trustee candidates in the upcoming trustee elections to submit their nomination papers to locations other than the HPSD Learning Support Centre in High Prairie. Changes to the Local Authorities Elections Act required school authorities to amend their policies to allow for nominations to happen outside their central offices. 

Trustees approved a motion to increase the monthly cleaning allowance given to school bus drivers for out-of-pocket cleaning supplies to $20 per month. The rate has been $13 per month since 2003.

The Board received the Finance report.

Trustees discussed their monthly reports that are presented to the Board as part of the regular meeting. 

The meeting then moved into closed.
