The beginning of a school year is full of firsts. For kindergarten students, it is their first time at school. This can be full of new learning, friendships, relationships, and discovery. But all of our students and staff are experiencing firsts. Students moving to the next school will be learning how to open lockers, new bell times, and new places to catch the bus home. New staff are coming into most of our schools, and we welcome them. We hope you find your way around your new environment and create those friendships and positive working relationships with colleagues. Students and staff will begin to develop new relationships and routines.

We strive to create a welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe learning environment for everyone. We know that people are most productive when they work in a positive atmosphere. The staff in our schools provide quality instruction in our classrooms to support student growth and accomplishments. Staff are in place to provide counselling and health support for students as they attend our schools.

Our mission is to prepare students for the world, both locally and globally, with a focus on developing all competencies, especially literacy and numeracy. In this way, students will be well-prepared for tomorrow’s world, today.

The Board of Trustees also has a focus on transparency in its fiduciary governance and garnering the voices of the community, business, parents and students in planning. This will ensure the local flavour in our schools is factored into the decisions at the board table, which impacts all other decisions in our Division.

Whatever the first and new is for you High Prairie Schools Division is happy to have you in the family and hopes your year is a productive and fulfilling one. On behalf of everyone at the High Prairie School Division, have a great year!
