Spring has not quite shown itself, but we know it is just around the corner. We are at the long stretch in the school year:  still three weeks from spring break and with a lot of learning still to be completed. As I look back over this year, it is wonderful to see the amazing things happening in the High Prairie School Division. The dedication and hard work of the teachers, school staff, parents and community members to ensure a successful learning year despite the challenges of the pandemic, new curriculum, and staff shortages is truly commendable.

The Career Coaching team’s promotion of dual credit courses is an excellent way to help students gain valuable skills and experiences that can benefit them in their future careers. The success of the students who attended the Arctic Winter Games is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the students and their teachers. It is also great to see the Indigenous Education Team promoting Indigenous knowledge systems and creating a richer learning experience for all students. The Round Dance at Joussard School is a wonderful example of how schools can promote tradition and culture while also acknowledging the history of the land.

Every day in each of our schools there are activities and events taking place to enhance learning, create a sense of belonging, and support student growth. A special thank you to the staff, parents, guardians, students, and community members for working toward this end.

Overall, it’s clear that there is a strong sense of community in the High Prairie School Division, and everyone is working together to create the best possible learning environment for students. Congratulation on all the achievements. I am proud to be a part of this team.
