High Prairie, Alberta – Staff from across High Prairie School Division were honoured at the annual Long Service Awards held in High Prairie on Friday, May 26th. Over 80 staff members from HPSD were honoured for their years of service to the Division. Also recognized was Bob Owens, Principal of Georges P. Vanier School and Heather Caudron, Principal of Joussard School. Bob Owens was High Prairie School Division’s nominee for the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence. Heather Caudron was the Division’s nominee for the Canada’s Outstanding Principal Award. Also recognized was the Division’s Edwin Parr nominee, Taryn Beaupre, as well as Neil Pereira and Taryn Aucoin, the other candidates for the Edwin Parr nomination. The Long Service Awards are one way that the HPSD Board of Trustees pay tribute to the Division’s wonderful staff and recognize their hard work and dedication.

A total of 12 retirees were recognized at the event, many of whom gave their entire working career to High Prairie School Division. Below is an excerpt from the commencement speech delivered by Superintendent Laura Poloz:

“Tonight is a very special evening. It is where our Board of Trustees are able to pay tribute to our wonderful staff members and recognize their hard work and dedication to this division. On behalf of our Trustees, thank you for all you that you do to promote quality public education.”

Congratulations to all of our award recipients and nominees. We would also like to give a special thank you to our retirees for your many years of service and dedication to quality public education at High Prairie School Division.
